Dr. McDonald received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University and completed her residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of North Carolina. Dr. McDonald is a tireless advocate for the underserved and has received numerous accolades for the outstanding clinical care she provides. She has established an outpatient practice in partnership with a local community health center in order and spends the majority of her clinical time with the Downtown Clinic for the Homeless. She facilitates clinical experiences for students from all health professions as well as resident physicians. The community medicine curriculum she has created teaches tools for the individualized care for patients and vulnerable communities while examining the forces impacting the systems delivering care to these patients.
